The city of San Antonio knows how to party. However, come Fiesta time, we take it to a whole new level! Last night the 10-day festival kicked off at Alamo Plaza. The official opening brought out a lively crowd of unique hat-wearing, pin-collecting, dog- toting revelers. There was live entertainment, royalty mingling through the crowd and a short parade. My favorite was Pin Pandemonium, a large area set up to buy, sell or trade Fiesta pins. And it was a surreal moment at the end of the night to watch the fireworks go off behind the Alamo. Just gorgeous, and a reminder to really appreciate the great city we live in, and the history behind the event dating back to 1891.
